GLOBAL SQUIRE has the chance to notch his second win in Tasmania when he tackles a class 1 handicap over 1350 metres (race 4) at Devonport today.

The Alana Fulton-trained three-year-old arrived in the state late last year as a tried three-year-old in South Australia and after two impressive trials he scored an emphatic win at his Tasmanian debut in late February in Launceston.

His two subsequent outings were good without winning and last start he had no luck at all and it would pay to forget he ever went around in a class one in Hobart in which he finished 11th of 13 but couldn’t gain a clear run at any stage in the home straight.

Today he has drawn wide (8) in the field of nine but he has early speed and rider Daniel Ganderton should be able to secure a forward berth without over taxing the Sharkbite gelding.

Last-start winner Geegees Muscle Man, Chill Winston, Quirribilly Lodge, Nuclear Hero and Songs ‘N’ Stories also have genuine winning claims.
